This rare medical condition made it impossible for Deathbat to have his wings surgically removed. Puberty can be a rough time, and Deathbat suffered from depression due to his extra attributes.

Deathbat's cat was the man's only friend, and the two would sit beside each other while Deathbat contemplated life's greatest questions, which in his case included, "What's with these effing wings on my head?!? Unfortunately, many great historical figures have only been truly appreciated long after they've passed away. This can be attributed to Deathbat, as his skull has become Avenged Sevenfold's official calling card, being tattooed on countless fans throughout the years.
